Further Adventures in Pain Insensistivity

Porphyromonas gingivalis is a gram negative bacteria.  The endotoxin in the cell wall of P gingivalis REDUCES PAIN SENSATION, so you don't know it's there.
Your first clue is when you can't remember things.

Go effin figure.

Zombie Shopping List

I use almost all of these products on a regular basis, because I have found they reduce my mouth problems and cognitive weirdness.
Y'all seem to like Chile Chocolate, I am partial to cream cheese with taco sauce.
Go Figure.

These are things that are known to inhibit Porphyromonas gingivalis, which causes gingivitis.

P. gingivalis is the most probable cause of  Alzheimer's Disease.

Please do not use antibiotics or hydrogen peroxide.   They disrupt the entire microbial balance in your mouth.

===========================

BAKING SODA
A four-week clinical study to evaluate and compare the effectiveness of a baking soda dentifrice and an antimicrobial dentifrice in reducing plaque.
The results of this study indicate that the baking soda dentifrice was more effective than the non-baking soda, antimicrobial dentifrice in plaque removal after a single tooth brushing, and in maintaining significantly lower plaque levels during a four-week period of twice daily, unsupervised tooth brushing.

GREEN/WHITE TEA
Suppresses P. gingivalis and helps your gums resist it too.

Antibacterial, antiadherence, antiprotease, and anti-inflammatory activities of various tea extracts: potential benefits for periodontal diseases.
Extracts from green tea, white tea, oolong tea, and black tea show promise for controlling periodontal disease by their capacity to interfere with P. gingivalis growth and virulence properties, host destructive enzymes, and inflammatory mediator secretion.

Green tea polyphenols enhance gingival keratinocyte integrity and protect against invasion by Porphyromonas gingivalis
These deleterious effects mediated by P. gingivalis were abolished by the green tea extract and EGCG. This protection may be in part related to the ability of tea catechins to inhibit the protease activities of P. gingivalis.

RED WINE
Both resveratrol and low concentration alcohol inhibit P. gingivalis

Resveratrol inhibits Porphyromonas gingivalis lipopolysaccharide-induced endothelial adhesion molecule expression

MILK/CHEESE
Lactoferrin and k-Casein in milk and cheese are preventative too.

Lactoferrin inhibits Porphyromonas gingivalis proteinases and has sustained biofilm inhibitory activity.

Porphyromonas gingivalis Cysteine Proteinase Inhibition by κ-Casein Peptides

LACTOBACILLUS
A probiotic bacteria available at the Health food store. Mostly available in multiple species pills.
Look for this strain on the label: L. Rhamnosus.  It helps me a lot.

Lactobacillus rhamnosus could inhibit Porphyromonas gingivalis biofilm formation
The immunomodulatory probiotic strain L. rhamnosus ATCC 9595 is proposed to be essential for maintaining healthy tissue, with multiple roles including co-aggregation, adhesion, and priming immune responses to ensure rapid and efficient defense against P. gingivalis.

DARK CHOCOLATE
Clinical and biochemical effects of dark chocolate in moderate chronic periodontitis
Consuming dark chocolate could decrease lipid peroxidation, gingival bleeding and inflammation.

FISH OIL/VITAMIN D
I think you have to use the real deal and put the liquid in your mouth.  I use drops in my coffee.

Omega-3 fatty acid reduces Porphyromonas gingivalis-induced experimental periodontal disease in rats.

CAPSAICIN (Chile spice)
Capsaicin inhibits Porphyromonas gingivalis growth and biofilm formation

CURCUMIN
Curcumin is a bright yellow chemical produced by turmeric, a member of the ginger family. It is sold as an herbal supplement. I have good reports on this one, but haven't tried it yet.

Novel therapeutic approach for the treatment of periodontitis by curcumin.

CRANBERRY
I have never tried thisI think there are extracts available.

Inhibitory effect of cranberry polyphenol on biofilm formation and cysteine proteases of Porphyromonas gingivalis.

A KETOGENIC DIET HELPS TOO
Enhancement of Wound Healing with Dietary Ketosis

If you must eat carbs, Rice has anti-gingivalis activity and sticks to your teeth less than other grains.

METFORMIN
A diabetes drug.  Tightens epithelium.  If you are taking this, stay on it.

STATINS
Atherosclerosis is also associated with P. gingivalis.  Cardiac plaque is probably the same as dental plaque (a theory proposed by Leonardo DaVinci.  Seriously.)

Effects of statins on multispecies oral biofilm identify simvastatin as a drug candidate targeting Porphyromonas gingivalis.
All four tested statins efficiently inhibited P. gingivalis growth and significantly decreased the cumulative bacterial load in developing and established biofilms. Simvastatin was most efficient and decreased P. gingivalis counts more than 1,300-fold relative to the control.

I'm gonna get me some of that.

NICOTINE

Tightens up your epithelium, so your gums bleed less.
But the tars and particles from cigarettes destroy the tissues in other ways.
You should use gum or vapes, and try to quit later when your mouth has healed.

For the record, my dentists never brought up gum disease in my entire life.
Much less offered me non drug options to prevent it.   I learned all this on my own.
Surgery is how they make money.
They were perfectly happy to ignore everything until I needed teeth extracted.

Lipopolysaccharide Challenge Reduces Orexin Production

Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) is a microbial toxin, produced during gram-negative bacterial infection.
Injecting animals with LPS reduces Orexin production, just like an infection.

**New Research** Orexin-A Prevents Lipopolysaccharide-Induced Neuroinflammation at the Level of the Intestinal Barrier

Low orexin levels allow LPS from your microbiome to leak through your intestine into the bloodstream (endotoxemia),  which causes even more orexin dysfunction.  (!!!!!)

Hypocretin/orexin loss changes the hypothalamic immune response

The hypothalmic response to LPS challenge in orexin deficient animals is to cease orexin production altogether.

Effects of inflammation produced by chronic lipopolysaccharide administration on the survival of hypocretin neurons and sleep.

Long term endotoxemia kills orexin cells.

Three Strikes and You're OUT

Infection with the influenza virus causes massive lung damage, raising endotoxin levels drastically, which lowers orexin levels.
Endotoxin reduces the immune response to many bacterial infection, so those are common afterwards.

Strep and staph bacteria then give you another big dose of endotoxin by causing open lesions.

And then the antibiotics they give you burst the bacteria and release A LOT more endotoxin, which shuts down your orexin production completely.

Low levels of orexin impairs healing and promotes intestinal permeability which allows all that endotoxin to leak into your bloodstream constantly,  finally killing the orexin cells.

THIS IS WHY

Because my mother and my doctors regularly dosed me with beta lactam antibiotics when I was a child.

Then they proceeded to tell me I was a stupid, lazy, ungrateful human when I got fat and tired and weepy.
And to just "Snap Out of It"...
And to just eat more frakking fruits and vegetables...

No, I'm not asleep

Please-  If any of you know people on Suvorexant, beg them to discontinue using it.
If they have bad teeth or get an infection, they may end up in the vortex too.

For some reason I have been reminded of this old joke a lot lately

One day the different parts of the body were having an argument to see which should be in charge.
The brain said, “I do all the thinking so I’m the most important and I should be in charge.”
The eyes said, “I see everything and let the rest of you know where we are, so I’m the most important and I should be in charge.”
The hands said, “Without me we wouldn’t be able to pick anything up or move anything. So I’m the most important and I should be in charge.”
The stomach said, “I turn the food we eat into energy for the rest of you. Without me, we’d starve. So I’m the most important and I should be in charge.”
The legs said, “Without me we wouldn’t be able to move anywhere. So I’m the most important and I should be in charge.”
Then the rectum said, “I think I should be in charge.”
All the rest of the parts said, “You?!? You don’t do anything! You’re not important! You can’t be in charge.”
So the rectum closed up.
After a few days, the legs were all wobbly, the stomach was all queasy, the hands were all shaky, the eyes were all watery, and the brain was all cloudy. They all agreed that they couldn’t take any more of this and agreed to put the Asshole in charge.

Uh Huh

A four-week clinical study to evaluate and compare the effectiveness of a baking soda dentifrice and an antimicrobial dentifrice in reducing plaque.

The results of this study indicate that the baking soda dentifrice was more effective than the non-baking soda, antimicrobial dentifrice in plaque removal after a single tooth brushing, and in maintaining significantly lower plaque levels during a four-week period of twice daily, unsupervised tooth brushing.

Enhancement of plaque removal efficacy by tooth brushing with baking soda dentifrices: results of five clinical studies.

The collective results from the five controlled clinical studies on over 270 subjects reported in this paper, consistently demonstrate that Arm & Hammer baking soda dentifrices enhanced plaque removal effectiveness of tooth brushing to a significantly greater extent than the non-baking soda dentifrice products.

Bonus:   Green/White Tea suppresses P.gingivalis and helps your gums resist it too.
