For the record, the large room at Karahan Tepe is an industrial kitchen. I have remodeled 18 kitchens. I know a kitchen when I see one.
There is a fireplace. The pit outside is a water reservoir. Those are not benches around the edge, those are counters for baskets and grinders. Ancient people sat on the floor.
It's a grain processing center. The small pillared room had a floor on top and was heated for malting the grain. It probably had a chute to go into the big room at one time. The depressions in the stone around the pit were probably to hold posts for scaffolding. Bags of grain were dunked in there before malting.
These people were drinking a lot of beer...
The weird pillared room in Gobekli Tepe is probably where the circumcisions were done. It's so fancy. Super High Tech. Has a Secret Tunnel. Ambient lighting. Weird acoustics. Definitely designed by a man.
