I have been unable to wear a bra comfortably since my bout of sepsis and the onset of my uncontrollable tourettes tics. The straps across the shoulder and elastic around the ribs pinch my phrenic nerve and cause pain on the left side. When my teeth were really bad it was writhing, screaming pain.... and an inability to raise my left arm.
I have known that for a while. I learned all about the path of the phrenic nerve trying to figure out the tics. It travels under the clavicle at the shoulder, and innervates the diaphragm which is attached to the lower ribs.
What I couldn't figure out was why I burped uncontrollably while leaning back and to the left side. Burping is caused by the vagus nerve.
Well, I finally found the answer...
The contribution of the left phrenic nerve to innervation of the esophagogastric junction.
In 76.6% of the human specimens, the left phrenic nerve participated in the innervation of the esophagogastric junction by forming a neural network together with the celiac plexus (46.6%) or by sending off a distinct phrenic branch, which joined the anterior vagal trunk (20%).
It hasn't really solved my problem though. I still can't find a bra that doesn't hurt.
This is interesting:
Shingles causes your hair to turn white.
I had a very bad case of this. I didn't even realize it. All my hair lost pigmentation.
My husband's shingles was limited to his neck and chin. His beard grew in white in those places. But his mustache was still brown.
