Practical Zombipathy

Further Adventures with Microbial Whak-a-Mole.

Today I am going to discuss foot and nail fungus.

The fungus can create a biofilm with PG and they both become more resistant, so you have to treat them both, or you will continue reinfecting yourself.

With that knowledge I have concocted a foot soak that seems effective.

I actually feel like I’m walking on someone elses’ legs…

Here’s my recipe for a small batch.

8 oz /200 ml  liquid castille soap.    I don’t know if there is any difference between brands.   It probably doesn’t matter, it’s just a carrier.

10 drops Curcumin extract.

10 drops Tea tree oil

Mix well.

Use 1 tsp/ 15ml of the soap  per 2 cups/0.5 l  of water in your basin.  It wil not be foamy.   You only have to cover the bottom of your feet and make sure it gets on your toenails and in between your toes.   I have a toothbrush I use to do my toes.

10-15 minutes, until your toes are wrinkly.

Dry your feet thoroghly.   Put on clean socks.   Cotton or wool are best.

Don’t forget to soak all your metal nail tools too.   Disinfect your tub and shower curtain with bleach.

I've been doing it every other day.

There is something about the soap and water carrier that permeates the skin more than lotion.

Curcumin inhibits PG and seems to open water channels in the skin cells.

Tea tree oil inhibits fungus and viruses.

For further healing and itch relief, use lidocaine cream on problematic spots.  It’s very antimicrobial and also numbs the skin.  It’s in the burn relief or arthritis section.    I like the ones that are “non-greasy”.
