As I was saying

Scientists discover why Alzheimer’s risk hits women so much harder

No they didn't.   Most of this is caused by the difference in men's and women's immune response.

Men have suppressed immune systems due to anabolic steroids like testosterone.

Women have increased immune responses triggered by estrogen.

Since Alzheimer's is caused by a surplus of immune response molecules clogging up the brain...women will have more pathology.  The same imbalance applies to narcolepsy patients.

Their  list of "risk factors" are merely other (very profitable) manifestations of the infections that cause Alzheimer's.

(I suppressed my ovaries with progesterone birth control from the time I was 16 until I was 50.   I participated in the clinical trials for all the forms:  pills, shots, and implants.  Looking back, it's surely one of the reasons I'm still alive.   Why I wasn't institutionalized.  Why I didn't just wither and die when I was 42 and the dementia set in.)
