See the Vortex

State of the Insanity

Lots of problematic teeth out there.  It's been a while since people went to the dentist.

Lots of young men with festering third molars and suppressed frontal cortices.

Berserker behavior is the baseline now.

And Donny understands that.

A team of researchers affiliated with multiple institutions across Australia has found that if everyone in the world drank at least two cups of coffee every day, the world would see hundreds of thousands fewer deaths from liver cancer. In their paper the group describes calculating their numbers and explains why they believe governments should begin encouraging people to drink more coffee.

Why this is important: because the time period that humans were first building permanent dwellings was before some major glacial flooding and a large sea level rise. Like now, prehistoric people chose to live near sources of water. Therefore most of the evidence of our first societies is now submerged.

The Limits of Willpower

This young man has incipient Tourettes.  His face is spasming out of control due to nerve compression caused by speaking.  Those braces are definitely making it worse.   (been there done that)

He should not have to struggle this way to compensate for incompetent dentistry.  It won't get better through "discipline".

He needs his molars checked for infection and occlusion problems.

Passive Aggressive Public Service Announcement

I am printing out copies of this to leave in maskless men's shopping carts at Home Depot-

The Covid-19  virus attaches to ACE2 receptors, starting in your nose.   It then multiplies and drips down into your lungs, which then deteriorate and allow it into your bloodstream.   It then preferentially binds to places with high ACE2 receptor density.   Like your testicles.  Seriously, testes are very susceptible, and the virus has been found in sperm.

It goes in your nose, and then collects in your balls.
I thought you might want to know that.

So cool.

Yoo Hoo Tough Guys

Lets talk about zombie cicadas.   They are all the rage right now.

Male cicadas infected with a particular parasitic fungus lose their minds and go on a mating frenzy — even as the fungus causes their genitals to rot.  Wicked, huh?

Now lets talk about Covid-19.

High ACE2 expression in testes suggests the possible existence of gender-specific viral reservoirs.

Another study found that SARS-CoV-2 can be present in the semen of patients with COVID-19, and SARS-CoV-2 may still be detected in the semen of recovering patients.

The virus attaches to ACE2 receptors, starting in your nose.   It then multiplies and drips down into your lungs, which then deteriorate and allow it into your bloodstream.   It then ends up in places with high ACE2 receptor density.   Like your testicles.

You rocket surgeons still sure you don't want to wear a mask?

Yo Boomers

Your president just made it clear he plans to defund Social Security and Medicare if he gets a chance.

The payroll tax he wants to slash- finances those programs. If he gets rid of that, the others will follow.

Just thought I would spell that out for you, since the Fox channel does not.

Not only does he not care if you ever see your grandchildren again or even if you die of Covid- he wants your money now...
Don’t think that just because you voted for him he won’t destroy your life too.

Conspiring to Lie to the American People

In real time.

Hospital data on coronavirus patients will now be rerouted to the Trump administration instead of first being sent to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Department of Health and Human Services confirmed to CNN on Tuesday.

State of the Insanity

These people have been autonomous adults for longer than I have.
They're in Florida in the middle of a pandemic that kills old people.
This one is screaming "White Power" from a golf cart/scooter parade.
Without a mask, of course.

This is the predictable endpoint of the pathology in communities of old white people with incompetent dentistry. I have anticipated something similar happening up the road in Catalina or down in Green Valley.    Roving bands of old farts with canes chasing away the gardeners...

See the vortex.
It's literally breathtaking.

For Posterity

Just to be clear, the United States of America is now in the middle of four major crises including a global pandemic and terrorist actions from Russia.
The "President" played golf yesterday and is at the golf course again right now.

State of the Insanity

Greetings from the center of the Vortex.

Face Mask Roundup

Research showing masks work.  In case you need to argue with someone who doesn't want to wear one.  Forward this and then avoid them.

From the FDA, which cites studies from other orgs.

From the CDC

From the Mayo Clinic

From WHO

Study from the National Institute of Health (NIH) – top line result “In the community, masks appeared to be effective with and without hand hygiene, and both together are more protective”

From the German IZA (Institute of Labor Economics) – “Masks considerably reduce COVID-19 Cases in Germany”

From Texas A&M study – “Face masks critical in preventing spread of COVID-19”-

Health Affairs study of masks in the US – “There is a significant decline in daily COVID-19 growth rate after mandating facial covers in public”

Study from the Lancet – “Face mask use could result in a large reduction in risk of infection”: https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lancet/article/PIIS0140-6736(20)31142-9/fulltext
Science Focus article on studies conducted by Cambridge University and University of Greenwich that concluded “Our analyses support the immediate and universal adoption of face masks by the public”

John Hopkins Medicine FAQ – “Yes, if you are in a public place where you will encounter other people, you should wear a mask.”

Countries where mask wearing is universal did massively better than those where it’s not

Fuck You Martha McSally

Nobody gives a damn about the tourist industry but Trump.
Arizona's main industry is old people.   And our covid infection rate is out of control right now.
You're despicable.
Coronavirus testing: supply shortages, more positive cases and longer wait times
It's not just the time to get a test that's increasing: The time it takes to get results in Arizona has crept up as well. Instead of a couple days, some people now report waiting a week or more to hear whether they tested positive for the disease.
As Arizona weathers big increases in COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations, the demand for tests has increased as well. The supply of testing materials have been running short in some places.

I actually remember this

As someone who lived in the Fremont neighborhood of Seattle when the Lenin statue went up-

Fremont has a lot of weird public art.   It was even funkier back then.

It is not a memorial to Lenin. It's an object lesson.
It is a tacky souvenir of the fall of the USSR.   Russians were selling them as scrap metal.  It was practically free.   It was bought on a lark.  The difficult part was shipping it.

It's an iconic reminder that tyrants will be overthrown and that their images become shameful.
