New Proud Boy Rules: Less Fighting, Less Wanking
The Proud Boys have new rules: the far-right outfit is trying to escape its violent rep with new prohibitions on fedoras, cargo shorts, head punches, crystal meth, and masturbating.
Yeah the cargo shorts and fedoras aren't the problem.
And prohibiting irrelevant things only distracts attention from and perpetuates the cranial pathology and insensitivity to pain that makes them enjoy being wounded.

Amphetamines are an historical and effective respiratory treatment, but will eventually fuck up your face.  Destroys your nose and cranial nerves, dehydrates your mouth, and eventually causes rotten teeth, mouth breathing, and sleep deprivation.   Meth use predictably leads to Hysterical Apnea- panic reactions and sexual obsession.

Orgasm activates your facial nerves and is a pleasant way to drain your cranial sinuses and lymph nodes.
For that reason, we ladies would appreciate it if they would drink less and snort less and shower and wank more.  (In their mom's basement where we can't see them.)  As often as necessary to keep them off the streets until their heads are working properly.

Thanks boys.

Microbes in the News

The Science Is Clear: Dirty Farm Water Is Making Us Sick
For more than a decade, it’s been clear that there’s a gaping hole in American food safety: Growers aren’t required to test their irrigation water for pathogens such as E. coli. As a result, contaminated water can end up on fruits and vegetables.
After several high-profile disease outbreaks linked to food, Congress in 2011 ordered a fix, and produce growers this year would have begun testing their water under rules crafted by the Obama administration’s Food and Drug Administration.
But six months before people were sickened by the contaminated romaine, President Donald Trump’s FDA – responding to pressure from the farm industry and Trump’s order to eliminate regulations – shelved the water-testing rules for at least four years.

Yes the people who voted for this no-regulation bullshit are also the ones who demand we come over on holidays and thank Jesus for our healthy and bountiful food.
I always silently say thanks to the migrant farm workers and food safety inspectors instead.

Psychodermatology

While I am reminiscing... How I spent the last lame duck session:
Feeling like my hair was on fire.   Not kidding.

Right after Thanksgiving 2016 my skin got so dehydrated from living here that my scalp rebelled.
I had been coloring my hair since 1980.  I put the solution on my head as usual and took a shower and tried to blow it dry.   My head started itching immediately, and within a couple hours all my hair follicles were blisters and my entire scalp puffed up like a biscuit.   I got a dent on the side of my head where my glasses arms were too tight.

I immediately cut off about 8 inches.  And tried everything  I could think of.   Oils, salves, took antihistamines....  most of them just made it worse.
It itched so bad it made me insane.   I couldn't sleep in any position.
I ended up getting a fleece hat, soaking it and my hair, and walking around with a wet head for a week.
Totally serious.

A couple months later I figured out the aloe/olive oil mix.
That helped a lot, but I never colored my hair again.
And it grew back in white.

I became a White Walker during the transition.
And obsessed with dehydration.
Go figure.

Words Matter

Man wearing no pants attacks manager, dies at Houston restaurant
Officers say the man was “in crisis” when he entered the restaurant and began throwing garbage cans and chairs. He also jumped up on the counter.
The scared employees called 911 and evacuated the restaurant, but the man followed them, allegedly assaulting a female manager.
When officers arrived, they were able to get the suspect in handcuffs, but then, he collapsed (and died).
The words "in crisis" are used by mental health professionals to create plausible deniability.  Nobody could possibly have predicted...

This man was obviously suffering from Septic Delirium, and if it were described as such people might be aware of this threat to society.  The symptoms might be noticed and this man could have been treated sooner and possibly avoided this altogether.  And if not, his dignity could be restored because his body would be inspected at autopsy for the fulminating abscess which made him insane.   Currently, teeth are only examined cursorily, and nobody analyzes the relationship between sepsis and crime.

Yeah, it's bad.   I once tore the blinds out of my windows and wanted to set the house on fire because I ordered the wrong ones.
I made myself sit on the floor and rock back and forth for three days instead.
Because I wanted to live long enough to know why.

Now I know.  This is why.

Excellent Documentation of the Obvious

Low-carb diets cause people to burn more calories
Over the 20 weeks, total energy expenditure was significantly greater on the low-carbohydrate diet versus the high-carbohydrate diet. At the same average body weight, participants who consumed the low-carb diet burned about 250 kilocalories a day more than those on the high-carb diet.

"If this difference persists—and we saw no drop-off during the 20 weeks of our study—the effect would translate into about a 20-pound weight loss after three years, with no change in calorie intake," says Ebbeling.

In people with the highest insulin secretion at baseline, the difference in calorie expenditure between the low- and high-carb diets was even greater, about 400 kilocalories per day, consistent with what the Carbohydrate-Insulin Model would predict. Ghrelin, a hormone thought to reduce calorie burning, was significantly lower on the low- versus high-carb diet.
Anyone who has done a ketogenic diet knows this intuitively.  You just feel like you have more energy being produced.

But that's different than documenting it.

A big Thank You to this research team.

Another Historical Anniversary

It has been 100 years since the 1918 Influenza Pandemic.
An epidemic spread worldwide by soldiers.
An infection that killed vast swaths of people, and changed the genetics of the world forever.

The 1918 flu changed human evolution.   Yes it did.

H1N1 flu is so deadly is because it creates a greater amount of lung damage and activates the immune system more.   It's like getting a horrible rash inside your throat and lungs and intestines.
The flu virus usually resolves in a few days.
But by then the bacterial infections have had a chance to get into the mix.
Especially strep and staph, because the immune system response to those is dampened by the flu virus and subsequent endotoxemia.

The people who died had the strongest immune systems, young men mostly.
They were overwhelmed by the immune molecules, went septic, and drowned in their own lungs.

The people who survived had less robust immune systems.
They were my generation's grandparents.

People with less acute immune reactions are more likely to harbor chronic non-fatal illnesses.
That is most of us.

The evolutionary arc of the microbe/immune interface tends to create chronic debilitating illnesses from acute and lethal germs.

That is the lesson of this story.

Hear the Echoes

It's the 100th anniversary of the end of World War One.
That's what we call it.  They called it the War to End All Wars.

It was a point in history when people with really bad teeth (read: alcoholic Northern Europeans) first got access to weapons of long range and mass destruction.

They moved fast and broke things.
They lost an entire generation of men in Europe.
They told us to Never Forget.

America is losing our young people to the same battle in slow motion.
Very sick people with insanely powerful weapons.
In our streets.
Constantly.

Girls will be Girls

A researcher friend of mine once sent me this comment in an email-
I still can't get over the difference in male and female mice.
No joke, males will bite each other and you can't mix and match boys in cages unless they have been together their whole lives. Even then, they fight.
Females you can mix and match til the cows come home and the worse thing that happens is you get one girl who grooms the others so much they're all naked. You can tell who she is cause she's the only one without bald patches.

Boys will be Boys

The Thousand Oaks shooter's high school track coach alleges that the killer sexually assaulted her. She also says school officials pressured her to keep quiet as not to ruin his career in the Marines.

Throughout history, men have asserted that all they need is some discipline to control their impulsive behavior.

So they have made a number of institutions where they put those guys in close quarters with a bunch of other impulsive guys with respiratory infections and sleep and alcohol disorders, and feed them high carb food and minimal dentistry for a few years.  They create the perfect environment for breeding chronic non-fatal illnesses.

And then everyone wonders why their erratic behavior accelerates when they get out of jail or the army and stop showering and brushing their teeth.

I learned a new word: It's the study of the effect of skin on mood and behavior.
I think that's a greatly underappreciated topic, and I am going to study it more.

Anyhow, this is one thing I have found that is fascinating.
The area in back of your ears still contains a lot of vestigial nerves from back in our evolution when our ancestors could move their ears around to focus on the direction of a sound.
They still seem to have an effect on your state of attention.  And that area seems to be prone to and sensitive to dehydration.
Try this- put some water on your fingers and wet the back of your ears.   The back of the cartilage and also the hairless skin of your scalp that is adjacent to it.

I find that my environmental awareness sharpens immediately.    It's fascinating.

You can't breathe.  You can't sleep.
And after a while you become so chronically rest and oxygen deprived that your brain stem goes into permanent panic mode.     Everything becomes frightening.  But the cerebral cortex shuts down so you can only obsess on and accomplish ONE thing.

Sex Education

Does Botox curb your sexual pleasure?
New research suggests women find it harder to orgasm after having botulinum treatment – but not everyone is convinced this means facial expressions are key to feeling pleasure.
Maybe facial nerves aren't necessary for sexual pleasure, but they are necessary for the peristalsis that occurs during orgasm.   The reflex involves the face because coordinating the sensory input and motor output between the cranial nerves and spinal nerves is what triggers the peristalsis sequence.   Peristalsis is the repetitive pattern of muscle contractions that release sperm from the testicles and also causes the internal directional motion of the vaginal canal during orgasm.  Your head and your body have to be synchronized because the same thing occurs in your face- your salivary glands and sinuses and tear ducts all drain too.  If you don't have the correct sensory function in those nerves, it derails the reflex.

Yeah, paralyzing facial nerves with endotoxin is a REALLY BAD IDEA.
You are destroying your face's ability to function properly-
Not to mention your migraine/wrinkle/anxiety/depression problems probably come from naturally occurring endotoxin already leaking in your mouth or nose!!

This research is notable because this means sexual dysfunction can probably also be caused by the common everyday facial nerve excitation and suppression due to infection and/or tooth crowding.
Something something headache, amirite?
And yet it suggests that orgasm would be a therapeutic treatment for facial and upper respiratory pathologies.  Heh.

Which reminds me of this legendary misdiagnosis...
Go figure.

See the Punkocracy

I just saw this new ad for the army-
There are those who are compelled to act when others don't.
Are you one of them?   Do you have what it takes?
This slick piece of video is directly aimed at young people with impulse control problems.
And suggests that what they need is very big guns.

I think this is problematic.  Irresponsible.  Exploitative.  Dangerous.
It reminds me of what my father said after his military service.
"I wanted to do the right thing.  They made me into a killer."

If you have impulse control problems that make you think you can save the world- you should consider seeing a dentist.
There's probably something wrong with your upper front teeth that is activating your trigeminal and vagus nerves and fight response.  (lower teeth tend to depress the nerves and cause the freezing response)

How I know-
I have both.   A bad upper canine on the left, and two crowned lower molars on the right.
I can't usually feel them, but I know which is problematic by whether I am homicidal or suicidal that day...

A Thousand Times Yes

Can an Infection Hypothesis Explain the Beta Amyloid Hypothesis of Alzheimer’s Disease?

Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is the most frequent type of dementia. The pathological hallmarks of the disease are extracellular senile plaques composed of beta-amyloid peptide (Aβ) and intracellular neurofibrillary tangles composed of pTau. These findings led to the “beta-amyloid hypothesis” that proposes that Aβ is the major cause of AD. Clinical trials targeting Aβ in the brain have mostly failed. These failures suggest a need to find new hypotheses to explain AD pathogenesis and generate new targets for intervention to prevent and treat the disease. Many years ago, the “infection hypothesis” was proposed, but received little attention. However, the recent discovery that Aβ is an antimicrobial peptide (AMP) acting against bacteria, fungi, and viruses gives increased credence to an infection hypothesis in the etiology of AD. We and others have shown that microbial infection increases the synthesis of this AMP. Here, we propose that the production of Aβ as an AMP will be beneficial on first microbial challenge but will become progressively detrimental as the infection becomes chronic and reactivates from time to time. Furthermore, we propose that host measures to remove excess Aβ decrease over time due to immune senescence and microbial biofilm formation. We propose that this biofilm aggregates with Aβ to form the plaques in the brain of AD patients. In this review, we will develop this connection between Infection – Aβ – AD and discuss future possible treatments based on this paradigm.

What Donald Trump and Kanye West have in common:

Too much cosmetic dentistry.   It's as bad as having naturally rotten teeth. Tears up your mouth and leaves permanent damage.

Shaving off the tops or fronts of your teeth is pretty bad for them.  It's like cutting open a bone.  There are live parts in there that are exposed.   And the outer portion is porous like a bone.   Covering over the the channels with cement and ceramics impedes their flow of nutrients and disposal of waste products.  They can never heal.
They look pretty, but they are dying inside.
And affecting all the cranial nerves and the entire immune system while they're at it.

I would bet both those guys would test positive on a beta-amyloid test.
Veneers and implants should come with a black box warning:  May poison your brain.

Forget the Blood of Teens. This Pill Promises to Extend Life for a Nickel a Pop

The drug in question, metformin, costs about five cents a pill. It’s a slightly modified version of a compound that was discovered in a plant, Galega officinalis. The plant, also known as French lilac and goat’s rue, is hardly the stuff of cutting-edge science. Physicians have been prescribing it as an herbal remedy for centuries. In 1640, the great English herbalist John Parkinson wrote about goat’s rue in his life’s work, Theatrum Botanicum, recommending it for “the bitings or stings of any venomous creature,” “the plague,” “measells,” “small pocks,” and “wormes in children,” among other conditions.
According to some sources, goat’s rue was also a centuries-old remedy for frequent urination, now known to be a telltale sign of diabetes. Today, metformin, which helps keep blood sugar levels in check without serious side effects, is typically the first-choice treatment for type 2 diabetics, and it’s sometimes prescribed for prediabetes as well. Together, the two conditions afflict half of American adults.
I agree with this guy.
It probably affects the chronic underlying glucose imbalance and immune response caused by "civilized" grain based diets.

My Two Cents

This picture is going around the interwebs today.

He clearly had his parotid salivary gland removed. (near the upper molars).  He also has no upper teeth and a full denture plate.  Guessing the lower teeth were natural but rotten, because his chin hadn't receded.
McCain had a similar thing on his other side. Salivary gland infection accelerated his cancer.
Pretty sure the long chronic infections that preceded Fred's salivary and oral surgeries are what caused his Alzheimer's.
Beta amyloid production in the brain is increased when you have a bacterial infection.  After a while your brain just clogs up from the excess.

Oh, by the way his son has the same problem.    (another related post)

Good Question

Matthew Dowd- Here is one thing I don’t understand: why is the MAGA crowd always in a perpetual state of anger even after they win. Trump gets elected, they stayed angry. They hold all levers of power in DC, still angry. They win tax vote, still angry. They win Kavanaugh, still angry.

Hmmmm... just spitballing here...maybe it's not politics at all, maybe it's the constant screeching headaches and systemic inflammation caused by all the rotting teeth in their heads...

This is Why

Because as a narcoleptic, men always found it pretty easy to knock me out with alcohol and pizza-and assault me.

At a party in high school, I once woke up in a different house with one of the rich boys on top of me.
Later on, another guy put hickeys and bites all over my ass cheeks while I was sleeping.
In college, I once woke up vomiting because one of my "friend's" penis was in my mouth.
Apparently they all felt I deserved it.

Still, I consider myself lucky, because I never fell asleep driving and killed someone while undiagnosed.
That's a narcoleptic's worst fate.

Same as it ever was

Liquid Bacteremia

Men like to think beer is harmless because it has less alcohol and some carbs in it.
"Liquid bread" is what they like to call it.

But beer is one of the worst things you can drink because it has gluten in it, which causes a similar kind of intestinal tissue damage as alcohol. The yeast can also cause fungal overgrowth of the mucous membranes. So they're actually multiplying their toxicity.
That's why beer gives them the big saggy gut- their intestines are leaking into the abdominal space and the toxins are swelling their livers.   (My nephew was truly shocked to learn that.)

Red wine is the safest alcohol to drink.   Resveratrol actually does help heal the mucous membranes somewhat.

True Grace

This kept repeating in my head all day-

"Never underestimate the power of a woman who feels the need to move the furniture."

She was glorious.   The most expert witness I've ever seen.

Never underestimate the power of a woman who knows what an effing amygdala does.

My Two Cents

I'm glad my google locked me out yesterday....that was a truly horrifying display of pathological sequela.   Quite a few neurological short circuits going on.

Anyhow,  I was going to post this stuff last week, but thought it seemed minor.
Then we saw his active bitch face...

Here's the relaxed version

I looked at his teeth a lot.   They're obviously crowded and not well kept, but there are no obvious gnarly ones.  His face also seems pretty symmetrical for an angry guy, they usually show some obvious swelling or sagging somewhere.   All I could see was that knot above his nose between the eyebrows.

That's the spot that makes you the most righteous though.   Pinches your eyes and makes that permanent crease.  Focuses your attention on your immediate annoyance.

And then I found this pic and knew he grinds his teeth.   And boy howdy does he grind.
The top and bottom have ground together into a really amazing curve.
This shows he clenches them together in the front and the lower jaw juts forward and back repeatedly.  Back and forth until they fit together like a puzzle.
It's like geology, shows the erosion over time.
He clearly has the most force on his face right in the middle, creating that huge central bump and relative symmetry otherwise.
I'm impressed, I ground in three directions, so my teeth are all totally flat, and my face is all droopy on one side.

For the record, bruxism is a cause of insomnia.
And he probably has apnea too.  Most alcoholics do.  Especially beer drinkers.

I also saw this pic and it made me think he has a bad left lower tooth.   That jowl just doesn't move properly.

And yesterday he focused on exactly that area of his mouth.
Probed it often with his tongue.

Now maybe this all seems trivial, but he certainly behaved as if he were a toddler with a toothache.

Plausible Deniability is the Refuge of Sociopaths

Jason Miller, Trumps former aide has been accused of secretly administering an abortion pill which almost killed the woman he was having an affair with.

Study Carefully

“We are unwilling to accommodate your unreasonable demands,” Grassley said in a written statement.
The operative word is "Unreasonable".  It's their favorite description of women.
Even though most of them couldn't get dressed in the morning without one.

We Won't Forget

Trump knows .
He knows why we ALL didn't report.
He's been counting on it his entire pussy grabbing life.

And it's precisely why nasty men support him.  Why they "want to go back to the fifties".
That's when they could bully and molest people with impunity.
Because practically, before the undeniable accountability of DNA, nobody could report it.  It would only destroy their own life.

Study carefully the ongoing loud display of feigned righteousness to convince each other they are not monsters...
And to keep us from talking about it, even now.

This is Why

Because I am that girl.
That girl at that party in 1977.
The one that got stared at and talked about afterwards- while given the silent treatment.
The one who still remembers the first classmate who spoke to her... three months later.

The one who grew up and moved far away and made an entirely different life.
The one who never used Facebook because it immediately connected her back to every one of those motherfucking assholes.

I am now an old lady.  I have suffered three rounds of florid dementia and some permanent memory loss.
But I can never forget that.

Easy Peasy Science

I’m a mother of six, and a Mormon. I have a good understanding of arguments surrounding abortion, religious and otherwise. I've been listening to men grandstand about women's reproductive rights, and I'm convinced men actually have zero interest in stopping abortion. Here's why…
If you want to stop abortion, you need to prevent unwanted pregnancies. And men are 100% responsible for unwanted pregnancies. No for real, they are. Perhaps you are thinking: IT TAKES TWO! And yes, it does take two for _intentional_ pregnancies.
But ALL unwanted pregnancies are caused by the irresponsible ejaculations of men. Period. Don’t believe me? Let me walk you through it...

A few things

America Records More than a Third of the World’s Gun Suicides
The United States, home to 4 percent of the world’s population, accounted for more than a third of its gun suicides in 2016, according to a sweeping analysis of global firearm deaths published yesterday in The Journal of the American Medical Association. The study, which is the first to gauge the global impact of gun violence, suggests that America’s rates of gun suicide and gun ownership are stark outliers on the world stage.

Some advice from GQ

Men, Please Brush Your Teeth
If you search the word “teeth” on Reddit, or through any internet advice column, you’ll see what a common issue this seems to be. Men who don’t brush for days at a time. Men turning defensive when their girlfriends ask them to go to the dentist. Men who shower every day, but whose only dental hygiene routine is stocking up on breath mints. Men who will nag their partners to brush their teeth, but who won’t do the same for themselves.
According to a survey from the Academy of General Dentistry, this is more than just an anecdotal problem. American women are more likely to get preventative dental care than men, and according to a different study from the Journal of Periodontology said men were less likely to brush regularly and do things like schedule regular dental checkups. Men are also more likely to lose teeth as they age, and develop oral and throat cancer, and gum disease. However, presumably men grow up surrounded by just as many helpful toothpaste commercials and posters in Kindergarten classrooms. Yes, going to the dentist sucks, but also, we’re all adults here. And so, I ask a question I’ve asked many, many times in my 31 years on this planet: Men, what on earth is up with you?

I wish I had the ability to search Reddit.   Unfortunately I have PTSD from doing internet research back in the 90's.   I was one of the actual humans who verified other people's search terms to determine the goal of the user and the accuracy of results.  (Totally serious, my boss created that paperclip guy.)  Trust me, even with (mostly misspelled) sex terms filtered out, it was traumatic.

And now I regret helping them improve their algorithms. Every single day.

Richard Sackler, former president of Purdue Pharma, may “benefit financially from the addiction crisis that his family’s company is accused of fueling.”
Yeah, this is not addiction treatment.   It's a slightly less powerful opioid, that they say is not addictive.  Check the tapes- that is exactly what they said about frakking Oxycontin!!!!

As I was Saying

Gut bacteria helps develop more beige fat with restricted calorie intake
Reducing the intake of calories by up to 40% has long been known to have a beneficial effect on animal health: the animals live longer, blood-sugar levels drop faster, and they burn more body fat. According to an article by a group of researchers recently published in the research magazine Cell Metabolism, many of these changes in the body are brought about by gut bacteria.
... Trajkovski's team found that the gut bacteria of mice on a calorie-restricted diet produced lower levels of a toxic molecule called Lipopolysaccharide (LPS). When the LPS-levels were reconstituted to normal levels in the blood, the mice lost many health benefits of the diet.
They then go on to describe the molecules that they are going to develop and sell to mimic this effect.

How and Why Silicon Valley Gets High  NYTimes
Michael Pollan, whose recent book, “How to Change Your Mind,” talks about the resurgence of psychedelic drugs, told me in an interview that the exploration of drugs by tech workers remains part of the industry’s “hacking ethos.”
Mr. Pollan is not surprised that Silicon Valley is behind that push. He points to a range of other tech-fueled efforts — fasting, food-hacking, nootropics (drugs meant to stimulate memory and cognitive function) and attempts to stop aging and even death — that are on trend right now.
“It is all about finding a technology to improve biology,” said Mr. Pollan.

Chronic malnutrition in children: A new gut microbial signature
"We expected to see an increase in enteropathogenic bacteria such as Campylobacter, Shigella or even Salmonella in the malnourished children," comments Pascale Vonaesch, "but we certainly didn't expect to see oropharyngeal bacteria!" "What also surprised us was the sheer number of these bacteria," adds Philippe Sansonetti. "We had already observed this type of phenomenon for some inflammatory bowel diseases and colon cancer, but never such large-scale migrations. There are 10 to 100 times more bacteria than in the control patients."

Why I am Obsessed with Dehydration

BECAUSE I CAN'T FEEL IT.

This study was just published, it shows that rising orexin levels are a trigger for thirst.
That as a rat gets dehydrated it's orexin levels rise and this motivates it to seek water.

I find this does not happen for me.
If I am outside and sweating I will just become more and more focused and obsessive on finishing my task instead of seeking relief.   I think this is because the stress hormones are being activated instead...

Orexin neurons couple neural systems mediating fluid balance with motivation-related circuits.

During extracellular dehydration, neural systems that sense deficits in body fluid homeostasis operate in tandem with those that mediate motivation and reward in order to promote ingestive behaviors that restore fluid balance. We hypothesized that hypothalamic orexin (Ox) neurons act as an interface to couple brain regions sensing and processing information about body fluid status with central nervous system motivation and reward systems. An initial set of anterograde and retrograde tracing experiments suggested that structures along the lamina terminalis (LT), a region of the forebrain that serves to monitor and integrate information reflecting body fluid balance, project to hypothalamic Ox neurons that, in turn, project to dopamine neurons in the ventral tegmental area (VTA). A second set of experiments determined whether Ox neuron activation is associated with extracellular dehydration and the seeking out and consumption of water and saline. An elevation of Fos-like immunoreactivity in Ox neurons was observed in fluid-depleted rats that were allowed to ingest water and sodium. A final experiment was conducted to determine whether Ox release in the VTA promotes thirst and salt appetite. Bilateral microinjection of the Ox Type I receptor antagonist SB-408124 into the VTA prior to acute extracellular dehydration attenuated fluid intake. Together, these studies support the hypothesis that structures along the LT modulate activity in the VTA through actions of orexinergic neurons that have cell bodies in the hypothalamus. This pathway may function to facilitate sustained consumption of fluids necessary for restoration of fluid balance.
